Spooky Ghosts Invitations Themes for Halloween Celebrations

Ghosts are definitely the most common scary creature associated with Halloween parties and invitation themes for this wacky holiday. It is believed that this holiday was celebrated by the Celts who viewed this date as a time when the obstacles between the living world and of the dead easier to cross. They believed that the dead re-entered the world of the living, either to torment or to visit, with the living. One of the first known mentions of ghosts was during the ancient days of China. After King Hsuan, the ruler until 783 BC, had his minister wrongfully executed, so his ghost returned to seek revenge and killed the leader with a bow and arrow. In modern days, millions of people worldwide believe ghosts do actually exist in one form or another. Whether you belief or not, it doesn't change their popularity for great Halloween themes and invitations ideas.

Kids Halloween Parties with Vampire Themed Invitation Cards

Vampires have become one of the more popular frightening monsters that supposedly lurk around in the night. Customizing a vampire invitation for Halloween gatherings will definitely increase the attendance at your chilling party, especially with the children. As with ghosts, vampires have become and continue to be a popular legend for centuries. The earliest human civilizations throughout the world supposedly believed in creatures similar to those of the vampire. But most of the chilling kids Halloween invites, feature the vampire of Eastern European origins with tales dating back to the early 18th century. However, the modern day vampire didn't become the enticing gentleman popularized in western culture until the early 1800s, 'The Vampyre' and '1897's Dracula'. The latter was influenced by the stories about Vlad the Impaler, an actual Transylvanian ruler who did many unspeakable acts to those he felt had wronged him.

Party Invites with Photo for the Living Dead for Halloween

While a zombie theme might not necessarily be appropriate for kids Halloween parties and invitation designs, zombies are becoming an increasingly popular idea to the world of spooky Halloween creatures. Long before George Romero popularized zombies in the western culture in the 1960s movie, 'Night of the Living Dead', zombies had been studied. Yes, that is correct: STUDIED. Believe it or not, unlike most of the creatures hosts consider for themes and invitation ideas, zombies might be more than just legend. The idea of zombies, it is said, originated in Haiti as part of Voodoo beliefs and practices, where it is told that dead people rise from their graves and wander around the area. Later, research found that those zombies weren't supernatural at all but could have been created by using two powerful drugs that produced the death-like behavior of the person. When the drugs wore off, the user would get out of the grave but was damaged permanently by the effects of the drugs.

Mummy Costume Themed Halloween Party Invitations

Although sliding in popularity, mummies remain one of those creatures that appear on shocking invitations from time to time. A mummy theme is based on the early Egyptian practice of mummifying pharaohs, although that practice alone is not where the fear and popularity came from. In the early 1920s, the tomb of King Tut was found, and soon after reports of the premature deaths of a few of the initial archaeologists who entered the tomb caused rumors about a mummy curse. So, naturally, Hollywood picked up and ran with the idea and portrayed mummies as chasing people who entered his sanctuary. Even though there aren't as many of these mummies wielding their curses from a Halloween invite, there are quite a few of them in Halloween costumes.

Spirited Witches Party Invitation Theme for Halloween

As with ghosts, witches are commonly associated with Halloween ideas, themes, and especially costumes. Witches, like vampires, and ghosts, have long histories with the human race, even dating back before the ancient celebrations of this Halloween. Witches are a difficult subject since the word can refer to people wrongly accused of witchcraft, and then tortured or killed during witch hunts such as the ones in Salem. Prosecuted the most were the folk medicine practitioners who used herbal medicines for healing people as if by magic, to pagan nature worshippers, or to those using spells and magic to control people, the environment, and the world. Although witches have been depicted in many ways and forms throughout different cultures, today's western view is more likely to appear on customized party invites for Halloween was probably shaped by the appearance of the Wicked Witch of the West in the Wizard of Oz film originated in 1939.
